This is a skin condition caused by a sequence of inflammatory changes triggered by the skins intolerance level. It can develop due to a combination of genetic (passed on from generations to generations) and environmental factors. Depending on the skin, the characteristics may differ.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ECZEMA

  • A red rash

  • Itchiness

  • Dark coloured patches

  • Swelling

  • Scaling of the skin

  • Cracked skin

  • Blisters

  • Rough and leathery patches

Atopic Dermatitis

  • The most common form of eczema that starts in childhood but can get mild up or disappear during adulthood.

Contact dermatitis

  • Irritated skin caused by a reaction to substances touched.

Neurodermatitis

  • Similar to Atopic dermatitis but more severe causes thicker scalier patches on the surface of the skin

Dyshidrotac eczema

  • Causes small blister on the hands and feet and is more common in woman than men

Hand eczema

  • Eczema only affecting the hands, most common professions like hair dressing or cleaning, due to regular use of chemicals

Stasis dermatitis

  • Fluid secreted from weaken veins onto the skin causing swelling, redness, itching and pain

Nummular eczema

  • Round coin shaped spots that form on the skin
